MEDICAL EXAMINATION
In accordance with the regulations on admissions of students for academic studies, the college conducts medical examinations for Freshers in order to determine their medical fitness to pursue their respective academic programmes.
The purpose of the medical examination is to identify diseases that can affect your academic work and guide the college how to deal with students with certain medical conditions as a way of serving them better. It also helps the college to note such medical conditions to enable us counsel students on what kind of medical assistance to seek at the hospital as they pursue your studies.
The medical examinations is usually done within the first to second week of admission at the Tumu Municipal Hospital in the heart of Tumu Town around the Ghana Post Office.
During the course of the medical examination, you will be required to complete a questionnaire, It is important that truthful answers are given to the questions in the questionnaire as they will form a basis for your health assessment. During the examination your weight, height, blood pressure, temperature will be checked, a blood test for Haemoglobin and sickle cell gene will be done. There will also be screening for Hepatitis B and C but No test for HIV will be done.
A thorough physical examination will be done, by a medical doctor of the Tumu Municipal Hospital who will then discuss with you the outcome of the examination. Please feel free to ask the doctor any questions that you need answers to. The medical officer shall inform you of your fitness or otherwise for admission. Any abnormality that is found will be further investigated and the appropriate advice offered.
A CERTIFICATE OF FITNESS OR UNFITNESS will be forwarded to the College Please note: All information concerning your medical examination shall be kept confidential with the College.
