MTCT | Entry Requirements

ENTRY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

Applicants who are coming directly from Senior High Schools in Ghana or other High Schools from other countries will be eligible to apply for the Registered Midwifery Programme.

Such applicants can apply with the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results only or the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results only and not a combination of both.

For the Registered Midwifery Programme, academic requirements must be met (regardless of work experience) before an applicant can be considered.

Entry Requirement for Registered Midwifery (Diploma)
Age 18-25 years
Overall aggregate WASSCE : An aggregate score of thirty six (36) or better in six subjects, comprising 3 core and 3 electives SSSCE: An aggregate score of twenty four (24) or better in six (6) subjects comprising 3 core and 3 electives
Core subjects and Minimum grades WASSCE: Credits (A1 – C6) in three core subjects. Ie . English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science SSSCE: Credits (A – D) in three core subjects Ie. English, Mathematics and Integrated Science

ADMISSION CONDITIONS

  1. Short listed candidates will be required to attend a selection interview, after which successful candidates will be offered admission.
  2. Admission is subject to passing a medical examination, thus candidates will be expected to undertake a medical examination at the college’s training hospital.
  3. All applicants admitted into the college receiving government funds will be expected to sign a bond with Government of Ghana to serve for a number of years after training.

REQUIREMENTS FOR FOREIGN APPLICANTS

The college is open to nationals of all countries. Foreign nationals receive the same quality of training as their Ghanaian.

  1. Foreign students may be admitted on the basis of qualification from their home country for which the West African Examination Council shall determine equivalences with respect to the prescribed entry requirements for the college. The council establishes the validity of examination results equivalence and provides interpretation of examination results from member countries of WAEC.
  2. Evidence of English proficiency for applicants from Non-English speaking countries should be provided.
  3. Foreign students will not enjoy government of Ghana Student Allowance or bursary and may contact the school for a separate schedule of fees.
